CAMP BUTWIN LODGE
Eagan, Minnesota
Larson Brenner Architects created a Master Plan in 1998 for the entire eighty-plus acre site of Camp Butwin, a day camp in Dakota County owned by the Jewish Community Center of St. Paul. The first two phases of this plan included construction of a new Pool and Pool Building, and a Camp Shelter/Activity building.
The new Main Lodge Building is the third phase of construction. The 10,460 sf Lodge Building includes an assembly space for 300 with stage, commercial kitchen, office and meeting rooms, chapel, and lower level fireside lounge and arts classroom. The rustic, camp-themed building combines log construction inside and out with conventional stud construction and glulam timbers and decking. Expansive views of Lake O’Brien are provided on upper and lower levels of the Lodge, framed by soaring timber structure and massive stone fireplaces. The new Lodge Building, used for a variety of camp activities, is also available for private retreats and receptions.
